padDistance Learning Program

The purpose of the Rigpa Distance Learning Program is to reach those who do not live near Rigpa centers and offer them an opportunity to follow Rigpa’s graduated course program. Over time we hope to offer a substantial part of Rigpa’s course program in distance learning format.

More than two million people around the world have read The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, including more than 400,000 in the United States. Each year thousands of people, from all faiths and backgrounds, contact Rigpa after reading the book. Many of these individuals have been profoundly affected by the book and have experienced significant changes in their lives. They often have questions about the content of the book, and would like to study it further.

While Rigpa offers a graduated course program as well as informal study groups in dozens of cities across Europe and the United States, the great majority of people who contact Rigpa do not live near a city offering course programs or study groups. Many others may live near a course program, but are engaged in work that prevents regular course attendance. There are also the elderly or the infirm who might greatly benefit from the teachings but have impaired mobility.

The vision of Rigpa’s Distance Learning Program is to offer individuals anywhere in the world the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the authentic teachings and methods presented in The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, and to apply them in their lives, so they can increase their well-being and the well-being of the world around them.
