Understanding Death and Caring for the Dying

ZAM, in conjunction with Spiritual Care, has released a two-tape audio set which covers an important teaching by Sogyal Rinpoche on death and dying given in San Francisco, CA on November 7th and 8th, 2000.

It is now ten years since the publication of the ground-breaking The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Despite the advance in palliative care and hospice work we still need to restore the sense of the sacred, and of awe, in the face of death, and to offer spiritual care to people at all stages of living and dying.

In this teaching, Rinpoche explores questions such as: * what is it that survives death? * fear of facing death * how caregivers can continue to find compassion * preparing spiritually for death * addressing the spiritual needs of the dying * how people can be helped in life, and before, during and after death * how the practice of meditation can help us to prepare for death
